Every April 16th, National Healthcare Decisions Day is celebrated. National Healthcare Decisions Day celebrates educating the public and providers about advance care planning while encouraging patients to express all of their healthcare wishes and for providers to honor and respect those wishes.

Founded in 2008, National Healthcare Decisions Day provides all information regarding healthcare decisions making for both the public and providers through resources and support to help guide individuals throughout the process. National Healthcare Decision Day’s purpose is to help the public understand all aspects of advance care planning, along with the importance of conversation and wishes for patients.

National Healthcare Decisions Day has a variety of resources available on  The Conversation Project, the official website for National Healthcare Decisions Day, along with the Advanced Directives Booklet, and the Advanced Directives Brochure. These available resources provide the public with sources needed to make important advance care planning decisions together.
